AMORC INITIATION-TEMPLE DEGRE 3 - PORTAL TO MADNESS PART I

RITUAL AND THE SEARCH WITHIN

There is probably nothing more external than a ritual. Although it may embody some kind of symbolic reality, although it may suggest awakening, the ritual itself is an ever-repeated set of movements, chanting, invocations, perhaps singing in an atmosphere dressed with special costumes, candles, incense, often veiled in deep mystery and a sense of sacred history.

In AMORC, if you were not near a Lodge, all you needed was your home sanctum, replete with candles, incense and a mirror and your sacred monograph. I remember drinking my glass of water, washing my hands and setting out to perform the Initiation for Degree 3. In the ritual, the candidate is informed that “more than 3000 years ago, the advanced members of the Order, concealed in the temple alcoves, put into practice the psychic faculties they had developed…”

In AMORC UNMASKED, I show often how “Rosicrucian” experiments begin with creating a relaxed atmosphere (note the suggestion of “soft lighting” that preceeds the initiation), then deploys various hypnotic triggers ranging from certain specific sounds, special signs, repetitive phrasing and then proceeds to a certain phase of the hypnotic process, the core of which I shall discuss in my next blog.

I'm a little unclear -- if you are not near a lodge, you can perform your own initiation?
